DiskSalv · Last updated: 20 August 2026

⚠︎ DiskSalv performs disk and partition operations that can permanently erase data. You are responsible for backing up before any destructive action. The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind.

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using DiskSalv (the “Software”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

2. License

DiskSalv is licensed, not sold, under the terms of the MIT License accompanying the Software. Subject to that license you may use, copy, and modify the Software. All trademarks and the DiskSalv name remain the property of their owner.

3. Nature of the Software

DiskSalv is a low-level disk utility. It can initialize disks, create/delete/format/resize partitions, clone disks, restore images, and securely erase media. These operations are inherently destructive and, once performed, are generally irreversible.

4. Your responsibilities

5. Safeguards, not guarantees

The Software includes safeguards — startup-disk lockout, typed confirmations, checksum verification, read-only defaults, and an audit log — designed to reduce the risk of accidental data loss. These safeguards are provided for convenience and do not guarantee against data loss, hardware failure, or misuse.

6. Disclaimer of warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.

7. Limitation of liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY — INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DATA LOSS, LOSS OF USE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES — ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE.

8. Third-party tools

The Software invokes Apple system utilities (diskutil, hdiutil, asr) and can optionally use smartmontools installed via Homebrew. Those tools are governed by their own licenses and terms.

9. Changes to these terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with its “Last updated” date.
