DiskSalv does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking.
1. Overview
DiskSalv is a native macOS disk utility. It runs entirely on your Mac. The developer operates no servers that receive your data, and the app contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking SDKs.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect personal information, usage statistics, device identifiers, crash analytics, or any behavioral data. Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to sell, share, or hand to third parties.
3. Disks, files and folders
DiskSalv reads disk and partition metadata through Apple's system tools (diskutil, hdiutil, asr) and reads files only from the volumes you explicitly browse. Nothing about your disks or files is transmitted anywhere. To perform raw block-level operations, macOS requires you to grant Full Disk Access to the app in System Settings — this permission is used only locally, on demand.
4. Local audit log
For your own transparency and safety, DiskSalv writes a record of the operations it runs to a private, rotating log at ~/Library/Logs/DiskSalv/ (directory permissions 0700). This log stays on your Mac, is never uploaded, and you can delete it at any time.
5. Network connections
DiskSalv makes no network connections on its own. The only optional online action is installing smartmontools for detailed S.M.A.R.T. monitoring: when you explicitly choose to do so, the app opens Homebrew's official website or runs Homebrew locally. No data about you is sent in the process.
6. Data retention and deletion
Since no data is collected or transmitted to us, there is no personal data stored on any server to retain or delete. All application data lives on your Mac and is removed when you delete the app and its support files.
7. Children
DiskSalv is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It collects no data from any user, regardless of age.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
